LAKEWOOD, Colo., March 13, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) today announced the Higher Learning Commission has approved a teach out agreement between RMCAD and the Art Institute, following the closure of Ai's campuses and online program. The teach out agreement will allow students formerly enrolled at Ai to complete their degree at RMCAD.
RMCAD previously established a teach out agreement with the Ai Colorado campus, which announced it would stop enrolling new students in July 2018 and officially shut down operations in December. To date, 105 students have already successfully transferred to RMCAD from Ai Colorado.
Under the expanded agreement, all former Ai students with 18 months or less of their program remaining can transfer 100 percent of their credits to complete a similar degree program at RMCAD. Students who do not qualify for the teach out can transfer with up to 60 credits through RMCAD's articulation agreement with Ai.
"We understand that this is a very difficult time for students, faculty, and staff of The Art Institute," said said Neely Patton, Vice President of Academic Affairs at RMCAD. "Through dedicated resources, our team is prepared to support these students in making the transition process as smooth as possible so they can continue their education and prepare for a creative career."
Six of Ai's degree programs are covered under the teach out agreement, including Graphic and Web Design, Interior Design, Media Arts and Animation, Digital Photography, Game Art and Design, and Fashion Design. Additionally, RMCAD has implemented a grant program to help ease the transition for those students wishing to complete their program.
Former Ai students interested in enrolling at RMCAD can learn more by contacting the Admissions Department.
