RLTV to Showcase the Volunteer Efforts of Adults 55+
Week of Shows Highlighting Individuals' Contributions to Society
BALTIMORE, July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Retirement Living TV (RLTV), the first cable network created for adults 55+, announced today that its programming next week will highlight the volunteer efforts of older Americans. RLTV will showcase the issue of volunteerism, and feature programming that demonstrates the commitment of adults 55+ to this important concept.
According to the Corporation for National and Community Service, more than half of the 63.4 million Americans who volunteered last year were 55 or older, and RLTV will use this week to tell some of the stories of those who give their time, money, and energy to help a myriad of causes.
The week will center on the premiere of Nurses for Africa airing Wednesday, August 4th at 8 p.m. (EDT), a special that follows a group of 16 nurses who head to Africa to provide medical care with a local Zambian non-profit and gain a new perspective on the joy of serving others. The special will be directly followed by an episode of The Daily Apple at 8:30 p.m. (EDT) that highlights the work of a special non-profit providing furniture to families in need. Both will air again on Saturday, August 7th at 8:00 p.m. (EDT).
In addition, each day throughout the week, episodes of The Art of Living, The Daily Apple, Viewpoint and What's Next? will showcase uplifting stories of 55+ volunteers from those who work in the Peace Corps, to adults who teach sailing to troubled kids. RLTV hopes viewers will see the fulfillment that volunteering provides and be inspired to take action themselves.
"Our audience firmly believe that they have a responsibility to give back," said Elliot Jacobson, SVP of Programming and Production for RLTV. "During our week of volunteering programming we will salute a broad range of people who have moved from success to significance."
