Rivian Appoints Michael McHale As Director, Communications
PLYMOUTH, Mich., Sept. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- US Automaker Rivian continues to bolster its leadership team with the appointment of Michael McHale to Director, Communications. This appointment follows other recent senior arrivals at Rivian as the company prepares itself to launch two all-new vehicles in the US from 2020.
McHale joins Rivian after 11 years as Director, Corporate Communications at Subaru of America, where he guided the company's communications through 11 consecutive years of record sales. During McHale's tenure, Subaru received numerous product and company awards such as the prestigious Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the Year three times. Prior to Subaru, McHale was Manager of Corporate Communications for BMW NA and prior to that he was Manager, Communications at MINI USA for the launch of the brand in the US in 2001. For MINI, McHale produced a series of innovative events, culminating in a North American Car of the Year (NACOTY) award.

Rivian is developing an integrated portfolio of electric adventure vehicles and technologies, with manufacturing planned at its Normal, IL facility in 2020 and technology offices in Irvine and San Jose, CA. Rivian will debut its premium vehicle platform in the form of an all-new electric SUV and Pickup Truck at the LA International Auto Show in November, 2018.
McHale will direct automotive/mobility related public and media relations, corporate social media, and crisis communications and will also manage automotive trade and consumer show events to build the Rivian brand. McHale was named an Automotive News All-Star in 2015 and has a degree in Engineering from Coventry University and a Master's degree in Engineering Business Management from Warwick University, UK. McHale began his working life as an Engineer at Land Rover in the UK, progressing through a number of management roles before beginning his vocation in Communications at Land Rover UK.
