Riverton High In Wyoming Selects Hellas Quality Again After 11 Years
RIVERTON, Wyo., July 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Riverton "Mean Wolverines" will be hosting competitors on new turf this fall, after new stadium renovations this summer. Hellas Construction is finishing up a re-top of its epiQ Tracks® X1000 track surface and installation of new Matrix® Turf with Helix Technology, with a Comfort Coat™ pad under the turf. The previous Hellas synthetic turf field and track lasted through 11 years of harsh Wyoming weather.
The Matrix Helix turf is the preferred turf the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, and Miami Dolphins.
Fremont County School District Number 25 Building and Grounds Coordinator Ted May said, "Hellas built this complex back in 2007, and the field and track have done very well over the last 11 years. We knew when we installed them that we would have to plan on replacing them after about ten years, so we put money aside every year just for this day."
Regular weekly maintenance helped the turf and tracks last longer than expected.
"We have extreme weather. In the winter it gets down to 20° or 30° below zero. Then in the summer, we get over 90°. We maintain the complex two times a week and before and after special events and have been careful to follow advice from Hellas, both surfaces lasted longer than expected."
The school district was able to again choose Hellas for the project by utilizing competitively bid and awarded contracts through AEPA and Northeast Wyoming BOCES.
"We put feelers out at the start of the process and received two interested companies, but we figured, why change companies? They were great," May said. "We have another great crew now. I can't say enough good things about them. We did our part, being careful in maintaining the field. Hellas did their part and exceeded our expectations."
