Riverside Research Renews CyberPatriot Commitment, Supplies Grant to Expand Elementary School Cyber Education Initiative
ARLINGTON, Va., Feb. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Riverside Research, a not-for-profit company chartered to advance scientific research in the public interest and in support of the United States government, has renewed their support of the Air Force Association's CyberPatriot program, the National Youth Cyber Education Program. In addition to their Cyber Gold sponsorship, Riverside Research has also provided a grant that will be used to expand CyberPatriot's Elementary School Cyber Education Initiative.
AFA's CyberPatriot Elementary School Cyber Education Initiative (ESCEI) is a set of three fun, interactive learning modules aimed at increasing grade K-6 students' awareness of online safety and cybersecurity principles. The program kit comes with curriculum on these topics to supplement the material presented in the interactive learning modules. Like other CyberPatriot programs, ESCEI aims to excite students about STEM education and careers by teaching them about cybersecurity in an engaging way. Given the increasing presence of the Internet in society, the program also aims to help students understand the widespread importance of cybersecurity in their everyday lives and equips them with skills to help better protect themselves on the Internet.
"Riverside Research has truly answered the call when it comes to supporting the expansion of STEM initiatives in high school and middle school, but especially for the youngest of Internet users," said Bernie Skoch, CyberPatriot National Commissioner. "Like the Air Force Association, Riverside Research understands that it's never too early to start helping students learn safe online practices."
