River Island X Harumika: Chelsea Girl on the World's Smallest Catwalk
LONDON, November 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
River Island has teamed up with Harumika to create mini versions of their Chelsea Girl collection to be displayed on the world's smallest catwalk.
The catwalk showcases the new looks from the AW12 Chelsea Girl collection in an innovative way designed to appeal to fashion-conscious girls who love to have fun with their style.
UCA Epsom design graduate Christina Ruby Walton visited River Island Head Office with the Harumika team earlier this year to work on the designs over two weeks. They worked with Chelsea Girl's senior designer, Lucy Moller, to recreate 10 outfits using the same fabrics and intricate details as the originals.
Lucy said: "Chelsea Girl is a quirky, fun and youthful brand, so the opportunity to create a playful fashion first with Harumika was a perfect fit. We're overwhelmed with the skill that Christina has used to miniaturise our designs so accurately, creating a truly innovative way of displaying our new collection."
The designs will be modelled on 21cm high and 4cm wide mannequins, on a one-metre long rotating runway. The models come in at an eighth of the average 5'11" catwalk model.
The new Chelsea Girl collection, including skirts and dresses, is available in selected stores and online now.
