River Island Joins Forces with Georgia Hardinge as Design Forum Returns for SS13
LONDON, January 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
It's looking to be another successful year for River Island's Design Forum initiative, with the launch of the third collaboration with young British designer, Georgia Hardinge for Spring/Summer 2013.
Georgia's signature designs take inspirations from architectural style, focussing on sculpture and the contour of the female silhouette, creating cutting edge creations which are themselves deemed to be works of art. For Georgia's debut High Street collaboration with River Island, Georgia has sought inspiration from Swiss surrealist painter and sculptor, H.R. Giger. His paintings create a beautiful depth and movement which Georgia has portrayed in her collection. With a predominantly monochromatic colour palette, the focus is on the unique whimsical prints and distinctive fit of Georgia's pieces. Statement items from the range include the neoprene printed structured hip dress, printed sleek maxi skirt with matching top. The more subtle pieces compliment the theme and flatter the female form with a 3 dimensional sculptural element.
Accessories complete this distinctive but sophisticated collection, and continue to play on the 3D theme, with flashes of metal against white leather.
Georgia says of her collaboration 'Working with a really strong team of people at River Island has been a great experience; it's so nice to have lots of people to make my designs a reality. It is great to be a part of something so new and I definitely think this is the way forward for the high street, making a luxury product become accessible to all.'
Georgia's collection for River Island is due to launch via a short film created and directed by film maker, Alex Turvey at the Fash/On Film event at London Fashion Week in February. Fash/On Film is an initiative devised by the British Fashion Council and River Island, in order to support and develop film in the fashion industry.
British born, Georgia graduated from the Parsons Paris School of Art and Design and launched her first collection during London Fashion Week in 2009. The Georgia Hardinge label has grown from strength to strength over the past couple of years and she has collaborated with worldwide companies such as Victoria's Secret and Lancome and has also dressed some high profile clients including Beyonce, Florence Welch, Lady Gaga, Jessie J and Nicole Scherzinger.
The 14 piece collection will be available to buy in stores beginning of April and the fabulous show piece featured in the film as well as on this release will be auctioned off for charity.
