Rising Needs of Aging Prompt $11 Million Senior Living Community Expansion
INDIANAPOLIS, April 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- With Indiana's senior population soaring, a local continuing care retirement community is enhancing its community to meet the growing need. Robin Run Village, managed by Brookdale, has added a three-story building that expands its assisted living and dementia care services. The project is creating 40 jobs. The $11 million project is part of a capital and investment and community management joint venture between Brookdale and Health Care Properties (HCP), further solidifying the long term relationship between the two companies. Robin Run Village is located in Indianapolis at 5354 West 62nd Street.
The new building's top floor is dedicated to those with Alzheimer's and other dementias, offering 25 apartments in a secured setting and Brookdale's Clare Bridge program of care. Clare Bridge designs its activities based on the interests of individual residents, matching current abilities and providing for purpose and accomplishment. The Clare Bridge area also includes a spa and a rooftop terrace and pergola.
The first and second floors offer 43 assisted living apartments and numerous amenities, including a library, activity rooms, bistro/pub area, lounge and private dining rooms. With completion of the project, Robin Run Village can now accommodate about 700 residents on its 86-acre campus.
As a continuing care retirement community, Robin Run Village had already offered assisted living and dementia care, as well as independent living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation. "This expansion of our assisted living and Clare Bridge Alzheimer's and dementia care program gives us more capacity to meet needs as they change and evolve," said Robin Run Village executive director David Pruett.
By 2030, seniors are expected to comprise 20 percent of the state's population, compared to 13 percent in 2010, according to the Indiana Business Research Center at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business. The Alzheimer's Association projects the number of Hoosiers with Alzheimer's disease will rise 18 percent between 2015 and 2025.
