MALVERN, Pa., Nov. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Coalition for Government Procurement has awarded Ricoh Americas Corporation a 2013 Green Excellence in Partnership award for leading the imaging industry with energy-efficient equipment, effective sustainability services, and decades of contributions to green procurement.

"Ricoh stands out on several counts, including its leadership role in advancing the EPEAT and ENERGY STAR efficiency standards, as well as its development of multifunction products (MFPs) that early on exceeded the criteria," said Roger Waldron, President of the Coalition. "But this isn't new. Ricoh was on our first imaging committee decades ago and has rallied other companies to commit to manufacturing green products and reducing carbon footprints. Ricoh's Ricoh Managed Print Services (MPS) help government agencies further conserve scarce resources by carefully managing fleets of their already energy-efficient imaging equipment."
The Coalition credits Ricoh with helping federal agencies comply with the government's 2009 Green Procurement mandate, which specifies that 95 percent of new contract actions offer energy-efficient, water-efficient, bio-based, recycled content, non toxic or non-ozone depleting products.
"Our sustainability efforts extend far beyond product manufacturing to include supplies, service, education and end-of-life procedures for effective resource conservation," said Jason Dizzine, Vice President, Technology Marketing, Ricoh Americas Corporation. "For as long as we've been in business, we've been concerned with the triple bottom line of profits, people and the planet. We design for the environment, and because our sustainable solutions have consistently proven to save government agencies money, we effectively design for the taxpayer."
The 2013 Excellence in Partnership honorees were recognized as part of the Coalition's 2013 Fall Training Conference—The New Federal Market—on Oct. 30 at the Fairview Park Marriott in Falls Church, Virginia.
