Rick Sackheim Promoted to Executive Vice President, Promotion, Island Def Jam Music Group

NEW YORK, July 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Rick Sackheim has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Promotion, Island Def Jam Music Group, it was announced today by Steve Bartels, President/COO, Island Def Jam Music Group.  In his new role, Mr. Sackheim will be overseeing all of the Mainstream Top 40, Rock, Alternative, Rhythmic/Crossover and Adult formats.  Mr. Sackheim will report directly to Mr. Bartels.

A veteran promotion executive, Mr. Sackheim has served as Senior Vice President, Promotion, Island Def Jam Music Group, since November 2005.  He began his career in 1991, with a four-year stint on the National Promotion staff of Scotti Brothers Records, followed by a year on the National Promotion staff of Private Music.  He then spent a year at 911 Entertainment, as Vice President of Promotion.  Mr. Sackheim moved to Restless Records in Los Angeles in 1998, where he held positions of increasing responsibility, rising to Vice President of Promotion.  He came to Arista Records in 2001, as Senior Director, Rhythm/Crossover Promotion, and was later named Vice President, Rhythm/Crossover Promotion.  In 2004, he joined Jive Records, also as Vice President, Rhythm/Crossover Promotion, prior to his arrival at Island Def Jam Music Group the following year.  Mr. Sackheim graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, with the Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science.
