Richard MacDonald's Magnus Opus Event a huge success!
MONTEREY, Calif., Oct. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 500 guests attended the early October red-carpet, Magnus Opus event at Richard MacDonald's private studio and foundry in Monterey, CA. Many guests referred to the show as "extraordinary and magical". The 2-evening event featured the largest body of the artist's work ever exhibited in one location, including a rare collection of early works, one-of-a-kind, hand-painted, and gilded works.
The exhibition encompassed the full spectrum of Richard MacDonald's career, from his very first sculpture Wind Drawn (1979) to his latest creation Gathering of Graces (2017), presented for the first time during the event. Over 20 magnificently lit Heroic bronze sculptures were on display, including two with cascading water features, with a number of them serving as a dramatic backdrop for the outdoor reception area. Guests enthusiastically toured the 30,000 square foot state-of-the art facility, enjoying demonstrations at each stage of the production process.
Several of Richard's models: dancers, musicians and acrobats, flew in from around the world, to entertain guests with special performances, while providing a window into the sources of inspiration for some of Richard MacDonald's creations. The evening concluded with a stunning nighttime foundry pour, where guests witnessed the mythic power of 2,000 degree hot molten bronze being poured from the crucible, destined to become a Richard MacDonald masterpiece.
We would like to thank our generous collectors and guests for making this event a great success! A percentage of the proceeds from the event will benefit Make-A-Wish of the Greater Bay Area.
