MIAMI, Feb. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Health Foundation of South Florida, a nonprofit public foundation that has awarded more than $98 million in grants and program support to preventive health initiatives since 1993, elected Richard Lavina as chairman of its board of directors.

Mr. Lavina, Executive Vice President, Regional President, Commercial Banking Southeast Region for HSBC Bank USA, N.A., has been a member of Health Foundation's board for six years. With more than 27 years of corporate/commercial banking experience, Mr. Lavina has extensive experience in the Southeastern market.
He is active with several local philanthropic organizations, including the Miami Foundation where Mr. Lavina was the Vice Chairman of the Executive Board and Chairman of the Investment Committee. Mr. Lavina, who holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in finance from the University of Miami, resides in Miami with his wife Maria and two children.
