Dr. Gilbert spoke on Pay for Performance, utilizing Southeast's Quantum Clinical Navigation System in his presentation entitled, "Of Course You Provide Great Care...Can You Prove It?" The Power of Data and IT in Incentivizing and Demonstrating Quality.
Quantum, a division of Southeast, is a web-based quality measurement system developed to measure patient satisfaction, operating room efficiency, practitioner performance and quality outcomes. It measures these items by recording a 50-point checklist of predefined indicators for every patient that enters the operating room. The system, which was developed by Southeast physicians, serves more than 100,000 patients every year.
"Our approach has reaped dividends in error reduction, optimized outcomes, decreased case delays and achieved outstanding patient satisfaction year after year," Dr. Gilbert added. "There will never be a straightforward, standard recipe for improving performance in any business application, but P4P is a powerful way to get started on a solution pathway."
The Healthcare Colloquium Conference Series addresses issues of healthcare policy and practice by offering executive courses at leading educational institutions.
