Ric Clark of Brookfield Property Partners Honored at A Winter's Evening Dinner
Event Raises $2 Million for National Jewish Health, the Nation's Leading Respiratory Hospital
NEW YORK, Dec. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Ric Clark, senior managing partner of Brookfield Asset Management and the global head of its real estate business, received the National Jewish Health Humanitarian Award at the 45th Real Estate and Construction Industries Dinner on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014. Event attendees helped raise $2 million for National Jewish Health, the leading respiratory hospital in the nation.
New York's most notable industry leaders, including Dinner Chairs John Zuccotti, with Brookfield Property Partners, and Jonathan Mechanic, with Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, LLP, took part in recognizing Clark's service. The event established and supported The Ric Clark Fund for Cutting-Edge Pilot Studies and Bridge Research.
"It is an honor to accept the National Jewish Health Humanitarian Award, and I am humbled to join the list of real estate and construction professionals who have received this honor," Clark said. "Your support for the Fund for Cutting-Edge Pilot Studies and Bridge Research could represent the crucial first step researchers at National Jewish Health need to identify the causes and treatments for the conditions that are affecting your family and friends. You are a part of the future of medicine here tonight."
The Humanitarian Award is the institution's highest recognition for distinguished service. Last year's recipients, Klara and Larry Silverstein, were also in attendance at the Grand Hyatt New York, where the dinner was held.
Clark has been with Brookfield's real estate group and its predecessors and affiliates since 1984 in various senior roles. He is also on the board of the Real Estate Roundtable, a long-time board member of the Mental Health Association of New York City, and board chair of the National Eating Disorders Association. Clark holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Over the institution's 115 years, National Jewish Health faculty and staff have enjoyed a strong relationship with thousands of patients and supporters in the Tri-State Area. In January, National Jewish Health and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai will open the Mount Sinai − National Jewish Health Respiratory Institute in New York. The Institute will provide care for patients with respiratory and related diseases, conduct research and expand teaching programs.
The leadership of the Real Estate and Construction Industries Dinner, now in its 45th year, reflects New York's legacy of broad support for the Denver-based institution. In addition to Dinner Chairs John Zuccotti and Jonathan Mechanic, Wendy M. Siegel served as executive chair. Co-chairs were Leonard Boxer, Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP; Martin S. Burger, Silverstein Properties, Inc.; Marty Cohen, Cohen & Steers, Inc.; Melissa J. Coley, Brookfield Property Partners; Andrew Davidoff, Emmes Group of Companies; Joseph A. DeLuca, Joseph A.
