RI Families Talk with State Legislators About Educational Choice at School Choice Week Event
PROVIDENCE, R.I., Jan. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Rhode Island parents will talk about the need for expanded parental choice in education with their state legislators at a special event at the state capitol on January 29, 2015.
The event, which will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Rhode Island State House, is timed to coincide with National School Choice Week, a nationwide celebration of the education options from traditional public schools, public charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, online academies, and homeschooling.
In addition to remarks delivered by the "School Choice Rabbi" Rabbi A.D. Motzen and musical performances by area schools, the program will end in the illumination of the Capitol Dome in yellow, the signature color of National School Choice Week.
300 people are expected to attend the reception, which is jointly planned by Rhode Island Families for School Choice, the Friedman Foundation, SchoolReach, Bishop Hendricken High School, and Providence Hebrew Day School.
National School Choice Week (January 25 – 31, 2015) will be America's largest-ever celebration of opportunity in education. Featuring more than 11,000 independently-organized events across all 50 states, the Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for children. National School Choice Week is independent, nonpolitical, and nonpartisan, and embraces all types of educational choice – from traditional public schools to public charter schools, magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
