Rhode Island Families for School Choice to Host Parent Program
PROVIDENCE, R.I., Jan. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Educators, parents, and community leaders are invited to gather at Providence Hebrew Day School to learn about and discuss the importance of school choice at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23.
The event will feature a keynote speech by community activist and policy advisor Zeus Rodriguez, who will highlight how increasing school choice can benefit Rhode Island and how it has already benefited other U.S. states.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"We invite parents to learn about how they can play a role in expanding school choice in Rhode Island," said Rob Rianna, vice-president of the Rhode Island Catholic School Parent Federation. "National School Choice Week is such a fitting time for families to collaborate on educational goals."
The event's sponsor, Rhode Island Families for School Choice, seeks to empower families to choose the educational environment that best meets the strengths and needs for each student by advancing public policies and providing a voice for school choice.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
