Reynolds and Reynolds Announces Merit Scholarships for 2011-2012
Reynolds and Reynolds Company Foundation Celebrates 25th Year Anniversary
DAYTON, Ohio, July 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Reynolds and Reynolds Company today announced the funding of more than 50 merit scholarships through the Reynolds and Reynolds Company Foundation, which is marking its twenty-fifth year of corporate giving in 2011.
The majority of the 2011-2012 scholarships were awarded under a long-standing program of honor scholarships for undergraduate study by children of Reynolds associates. Additionally, the Reynolds and Reynolds Company Foundation is funding scholarships at Wright State University in Dayton, Texas A&M University, and scholarships awarded to Ohio Army National Guard members and their families.
"For a quarter century, the Reynolds and Reynolds Company Foundation has had a focus on supporting higher education," said Dave Bates, who is vice president of Software Support at Reynolds and a trustee with the Foundation. "Helping students as they continue their education at the collegiate level has a ripple effect beyond making a difference in the life of a student and can have a lasting impact for all of us and our communities."
- Reynolds and Reynolds Honor Scholarships are awarded to assist the college-age children of Reynolds associates with undergraduate studies. The scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated academic excellence, as well as extracurricular and community service involvement. This year, Reynolds funded 28 scholarships.
- The Reynolds and Reynolds Leadership Scholars Program at Wright State University provides merit-based scholarships for students in the University's College of Engineering and Computer Science. Reynolds established the scholarship program in 2009. For the 2011-2012 academic year, 18 students received scholarships.
- Reynolds also funded four scholarships for the 2011-2012 academic year that benefit enlisted members of the Ohio National Guard or their college-aged dependents.
- Finally, Reynolds funded three merit scholarships at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, where the company operates one of its major facilities.
"As the Reynolds and Reynolds Foundation celebrates twenty-five years of philanthropic support for the community," Bates concluded, "we're proud of the focus we put on scholarships for higher education and look forward to continuing our tradition of support."
