INDIANAPOLIS, April 9, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Police Association is announcing a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individual responsible for opening fire on a Toledo PD Gang Unit officer, Tuesday evening, April 7, 2020.
Toledo PD responded to Norwood and Waite after a call reporting 30-50 people involved in a gang related disturbance. Upon arriving the officers observed two suspects fleeing the scene. A uniformed Toledo Police Gang Unit gave chase, one officer to each suspect. At approximately 8:58 PM, one of the officers radioed that a suspect had pointed a rifle at him and fired shots. The suspect was later able to escape.
Police are searching for the shooter as the investigation continues. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
