CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Blair White, Founder and CEO of Slide to Safety, Inc. recently announced, "The first of its kind, Rapid Evacuation Slide that was developed over two years ago is moving from design and testing into production." The first slide was assembled in Charlotte, NC. Full scale production will start within 60 days and first orders will begin installation within 90 days.

Slide to Safety Rapid Evacuation Slides™ were created for the specific purpose of allowing building occupants to quickly evacuate from the second through fourth floors when an active shooting situation occurs. The slide can also be used for evacuation in fires or other disaster scenarios where traditional egress is blocked. The slide inflates in under 6 seconds and can clear a room of 30 occupants in about a minute. With a 20 year shelf life, the slide is cost effective and WILL save lives.

Sadly, recent history supports the need for an evacuation system in schools and other public buildings. Analysis also shows that these tragedies don't just occur on the first floor of buildings where windows and doors may be used for escape.

At Virginia Tech, Professor Librescu lost his life while barricading the door, but saved others by yelling at his students to jump out the window.
The shooting at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino occurred at a holiday gathering on the second floor of the building. The entrance to the room was blocked and there was nowhere to run.
At Columbine, the majority of the shooting occurred in the second floor library, where the two shooters killed 10 and seriously injured 12 students. Patrick Ireland caught the attention of TV viewers all over the nation when he crawled over to the library's bullet-shattered window and pushed himself over the sill, after he was shot twice in the head and once in the leg.
