Rev. Murray stated: "History is her story, how for a quarter of a century Danette Meyers has prosecuted more cases than any other elected D.A. in the history of Los Angeles. Her story includes her selection as Prosecutor of the Year twice, and being recognized as one of the Top 100 lawyers in California. Her story includes her election as the first female African American President of the 26,000 member Los Angeles County Bar Association. Now it's up to fair minded voters like those of us who know her record to celebrate her story by electing her as Los Angeles County District Attorney in 2012. Make her story history."
Rev. Murray presided over more than 18,000 parishioners as pastor of First African Methodist Episcopal Church for 27 years before retiring. In 2005 Rev. Murray joined the University of Southern California and became the holder of the John R. Tansey Chair at the Center for Religion and Civic Culture at U.S.C. Rev. Murray holds a doctorate from Claremont School of Theology and is widely considered a senior statesman in the African American community as well as in the City of Los Angeles.
Danette Meyers stated: "I am deeply honored that Rev. Dr. Cecil Murray, a man I have long admired and respected for his inspirational spirituality, leadership and tireless devotion to civil rights and the improvement of the lives of so many fellow Angelenos, has endorsed my candidacy for Los Angeles County District Attorney."
Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers is considered a top contender for the 2012 District Attorney election. The Los Angeles native and 25 year veteran prosecutor has already received numerous endorsements from a diverse group of distinguished individuals including twice elected Los Angeles District Attorney Gil Garcetti. If elected, Meyers will be the first female and first African American District Attorney of Los Angeles County. For more information please visit www.DAnetteforDA.com or Facebook.com/DanetteMeyers.
