ReverbNation Acquires Music Research Platform Audiokite
DURHAM, N.C., Nov. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ReverbNation, the company that has helped millions of emerging artists advance their careers, announced today that they have acquired Audiokite, a company whose best-in-class research platform enables musicians to have their music reviewed by some of the world's most ardent music fans.
The acquisition of Audiokite will allow ReverbNation to strengthen the relationship between its industry-leading Curation-at-scale capabilities and its fast growing artist-to-fan initiatives. Audiokite has already been integrated into ReverbNation's existing Crowd Review product, a popular service for artists on ReverbNation.com.
"We believe that adding Audiokite's world-class research platform to our industry-first Curation-at-scale capability positions ReverbNation at the cutting edge of both artist identification and new music discovery," said Simon Perry, Chief Creative Officer and Head of A&R at ReverbNation. "Artists love getting feedback from music fans on their work, and now that Crowd Review is being powered by Audiokite, we expect the product to continue to grow. Simultaneously, we look forward to engaging the millions of fans who come to ReverbNation.com each month to provide feedback for our artists."
Built in 2014 by Alex Jae Mitchell and Dave Marcello, Audiokite research has verified more than 10,000 high-quality reviewers – music superfans in the U.S. - who have answered over 500,000 surveys on behalf of thousands of musicians and labels from all over the world.
"We couldn't be more excited to join the team at ReverbNation, as it's one of the only music technology companies that shares our artist-first ethos, and certainly the most significant in terms of scale," said Mr. Mitchell. "Dave and I quickly realized that our vision of how to best leverage the wisdom of crowds was totally aligned with ReverbNation's, and we're looking forward to executing against this shared vision for the benefit of artists and industry alike."
ReverbNation CEO, Michael Doernberg added, "Alex and Dave have built a fantastic product, and their commitment to building innovative and forward-thinking products fits perfectly within our culture. This acquisition goes far beyond simply offering a better crowdsourcing product, we also expect the addition of Audiokite to elevate our industry offerings to record labels, music festivals, synch opportunities, and brands."
Since its formation in 2006, ReverbNation has helped millions of artists, including many who have gone on to achieve great success. Recently, with their proprietary curation-at-scale capability ReverbNation has played an early role in the careers of such artists as Walk The Moon, Rachel Platten, The Record Company and Sammy Brue.
