Revel Systems iPad POS Launches another vertical for Wineries with Customer HALL Wines in Napa Valley
The Leader in iPad POS Changes the Way Napa Valley Does Business
SAN FRANCISCO, March 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Revel Systems, the leader in iPad Point of Sale Solutions today announced its iPad POS platform customized specifically for the needs of wineries around the globe. This new product offering will allow wineries to take advantage of Revel's powerful POS platform and analytics without sacrificing any of the necessities vital to businesses in the wine industry. Napa Valley is a major enotourism destination, and Revel iPad POS now provides wineries with the front-end functionality to conduct tastings and the back-end performance for the shipping compliant side of their business.
This solution, which consists of 20 iPads roaming over several acres, has been rolled out in Napa Valley's HALL Wines, located in St. Helena, CA. This state-of-the-art winery is dedicated to making single vineyard and limited production wines, and showcases its wines alongside expressive art and masterful architecture.
"In the coming year, we are proud to feature new experiences at each of our properties, and especially at our HALL St. Helena Winery," said Jeff Zappelli, Director of Membership at HALL and WALT Wines. "In many areas of our business we made thoughtful investments in new cutting-edge technologies to enhance our wines and the experiences our members and guests enjoy. One new technology we are very proud to launch today includes our adoption of the Revel point-of-sale iPad tablet solution. As a winery, we have very specific requirements for shipping and liquor laws. Additionally we need to offer our members and guests full visibility of their accounts whether they are at home, or here in wine country. In an effort to meet our needs, Revel Systems has integrated the appropriate specifications into its point-of-sale solution, giving us a better tool to enhance the experience while also running our winery successfully."
Wine shipping laws vary from state to state, and it is critical that a winery's point-of-sale system can accommodate these laws. About half of states allow wineries to ship directly to consumers, while others require shipment to a distributor. In order to adhere to these requirements, Revel Systems integrated with ShipCompliant, a web application for managing shipping compliance. ShipCompliant maintains the industry's most accurate and up to date database of direct shipping rules in order to enable real-time compliance checks and auto-populated state shipping and tax reports. This integration enables wineries to enter a customer's shipping address and receive immediate notification of whether they can ship to that location. ShipCompliant pulls information such as address type and location, and analyzes laws specific to that state to determine whether or not the shipment can be sent to that location.
"A winery's operation is significantly more complicated than that of your average retail establishment," said Chris Ciabarra, CTO and Co-founder of Revel Systems. "Revel iPad POS is now robust enough to handle the complex operations at a winery—including inventory and crucial legal shipping requirements that vary by region. We pride ourselves on being a customizable and scalable solution, and this winery rollout is no exception. Revel's engineers worked to create an iPad POS platform for wineries that's both efficient and state shipping law compliant. Combined, Napa and Sonoma have over 700 wineries. As an iPad POS platform, we see this as a huge opportunity to make an impact on the viticulture industry."
The Revel platform enables HALL Wines employees to check inventory and other crucial data from the field, without needing an Internet connection. The mobility of Revel's solution allows winery guests to place orders from a vineyard tour or at an event while providing wine educators instant access to information on tastings, allowing them to immediately tell a guest more about the wine he or she is enjoying. Additionally, HALL Wines selected Revel Systems due to its ability to perform customization in a short amount of time, to implement the project on budget, to implement customer loyalty programs and keep their CRM systems up-to-date, allowing wineries to operate loyalty and wine club programs smoothly.
