Caritas Internationalis gathers together 165 national Caritas groups and aims primarily at coordinating their intervention in global emergencies and crises. In 2004, Pope John Paul II granted the organization canonical status in recognition of the great service provided to all of humanity. At the convening, the organization's strategic plan for the next four years will be reviewed and discussed.
"I cherish the opportunity to be part of this special 60th Anniversary session, and have been honored to serve as President of Caritas North America for the past four years," said Fr. Snyder. "In the global times we find ourselves in, the need for Caritas Internationalis in our society has never been greater. We must be there for all those in need when disaster or crisis strikes."
