Retrofitness Continues Growth and Rapid Expansion
1980's-themed Fitness Chain Inks 10 Agreements in First Quarter of 2010
COLTS NECK, N.J., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Retrofitness, a totally awesome, 1980s-themed fitness chain, has inked 10 individual franchise agreements in the first quarter of 2010 with revenue up 85 percent over the first quarter of last year. A total of 45 locations are slated to open by the end of 2010 in new markets such as Fort Meyers, Florida and Brooklyn, NY, as well as existing markets that include New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pa. and Long Island, NY.
"We've opened eight Retrofitness locations so far this year and will continue our rapid expansion plans with hundreds of additional units over the next five years," said Eric Casaburi, Founder and CEO. "We attribute much of this success to the multiple revenue streams available to franchisees, such as in-house chiropractic services, tanning, a juice bar and personal training – all of which add value to the investment."
At Retrofitness, the top 10 percent of its franchises have an average gross sale of $1.9 million. Franchisees are able to maximize profitability as they take advantage of the company's exclusive offerings. For example, each Retrofitness location is outfitted with 60 to 100 pieces of various cardiovascular equipment and a "Retro Theatre" where members can work out while watching some of their favorite 80's movies. The Retro Blends juice bar is another highlight for members, as well as a revenue booster for owners. The blends are easy to make and do not require a lot of space behind the counter. Retrofitness' apparel section is also expanding as it recently struck a deal with Under Armor to co-brand Retro apparel in its clubs.
Retrofitness is continuing expansion in strategic areas throughout the East Coast, Midwest and South toward a goal of approximately 500 units in operation over the next 5 years. Retrofitness currently has 40 locations operating in New Jersey and another 20 throughout the East. The company entered the Virginia market last year with a three-unit agreement, and it is looking to continue the trend of multi-unit agreements through its rapid expansion.
