Endo International plc Research Reports
On September 22, 2014, Endo International plc issued a statement in response to Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, Inc.'s (Auxilium) rejection to its proposal to acquire the latter for $28.10 per share in a cash and stock transaction valued at $2.2 billion. The statement read, "We continue to believe that our transaction for Auxilium is compelling. We are providing a substantial premium and immediate cash value for Auxilium shareholders as well as the opportunity to participate in the upside potential of a leading global specialty healthcare company. We are confident that our proposal would create benefits for both Endo and Auxilium shareholders, as well as our patients, customers and employees. We note Auxilium's statement that it maintains the right to engage in discussions with Endo and it is our strong preference to work collaboratively with Auxilium to realize the benefits of this transaction. General Electric Company Research Reports
On September 22, 2014, General Electric Company's (General Electric) global nuclear alliance with Hitachi - GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GE Hitachi) - announced that it is working with several utility customers in Japan for the delivery of its Spent Fuel Pool Level Monitors (SFPLM). According to the Company, SFPLM is a critical tool that provides accurate and continuous water-level measurements at distances up to 1,000 feet allowing operators to ensure safe, reliable monitoring from the control room. According to the Company, it has shipped two SFPLM systems to Chugoku Electric Power Company for installation at Shimane 2 and 3 nuclear power plants in Shimane Prefecture, and has received orders from three other utilities in Japan. GE Hitachi has also shipped SFPLM systems to Taiwan Power Company. Kevin Walsh, Senior Vice President, Nuclear Services and Fuels, said, "This robust technology helps our customers meet regulatory requirements by providing safe and reliable spent fuel pool water level and temperature indication." (Emerson) reported the launch of Ferguson Forward program, which is a comprehensive, multifaceted education and employment program to support renewed community enrichment and development in the Ferguson and North County area. Dresser-Rand Group Inc. Research Reports
On September 23, 2014, Dresser-Rand Group Inc. (Dresser-Rand) reported that the Company along with Pathfinder Renewable Wind Energy, Magnum Energy and Duke-American Transmission, has jointly proposed an $8-billion green energy initiative to bring in large amounts of clean electricity to the Los Angeles area by 2023. According to the Company, the project would require construction of - one of America's largest wind farms in Wyoming; one of the world's biggest energy storage facilities in Utah; and a 525-mile electric transmission line connecting the two sites. The consortium expects the proposed project to generate more than twice the amount of electricity produced by the giant 1930s-era hydroelectric dam in Nevada - 9.2 million megawatt-hours per year vs. 3.9 million megawatt-hours. The Company informed that the consortium will formally submit the proposal to the Southern California Public Power Authority by early 2015 in response to the agency's request for proposals to supply the Los Angeles area with renewable energy and electricity storage. General Dynamics Corporation Research Reports
On September 18, 2014, General Dynamics Corporation (General Dynamics) reported that its business unit, General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, has received a $16.2 million contract from the U.S. Navy to produce Type-3 Advanced Mission Computers (AMC) for the F/A-18 E/A-18G Super Hornet aircraft. The Company informed that under the terms of the contract, General Dynamics will produce, build, test and deliver the Type-3 AMCs to the U.S. Navy and Australia by March 2016. According to the Company, the AMC will be designed to operate in extreme environmental conditions, the ruggedized; high-performance AMC processes high-speed data rates from aircraft sensors.
