WASHINGTON, April 22, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Less than 18 months before the Latino electorate is expected to exercise its critical influence in the outcome of Election 2016, the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) will assemble the largest gathering of Latino policymakers in the country for the NALEO 32nd Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The three-day event, which is expected to draw more than 1200 Latino elected officials and national leaders, will be held from June 17-19, 2015 at the Aria Resort and Casino. As part of the Annual Conference, NALEO has invited candidates vying for the White House to address the nation's Latino elected and appointed officials during the organization's Republican (June 17) and Democratic (June 18) Presidential candidate forums.
"The road to the White House in 2016 runs through the Latino community," said Arturo Vargas, NALEO Executive Director. "We expect the nation's presidential candidates to join us in Las Vegas to address the nation's Latino officials and the most pressing issues facing the Latino community today."
The NALEO Annual Conference has emerged as the preeminent forum for our nation's leadership to engage Latino officials and the millions of constituents NALEO members represent. Previous conferences have featured President Barack Obama, Governor Mitt Romney, Secretary Hillary Clinton, Governor Jeb Bush, Vice President Joe Biden, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, U.S. Senator John McCain and others.
In addition to the Presidential candidate forums, conference attendees will also participate in panel discussions on various issues on the national agenda, including immigration reform and Administrative Relief, the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, improving Latino student outcomes, community policing post-Ferguson, human trafficking, and an overview of Nevada political leadership and the role of Latinos in Election 2016.
The NALEO 32nd Annual Conference is made possible through the generous support of Presenting Sponsors, Toyota and Walmart.
This event is open to press. More information can be found on the NALEO website at http://www.naleo.org/lasvegas2015/.
