WASHINGTON, June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- NASA is inviting the public and journalists to a special event that highlights agency missions and technologies on Wednesday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. EDT in the Rayburn House Office Building Foyer. Deputy Administrator Lori Garver will be the featured speaker at an evening program from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The event, known as NASA Day on the Hill: Reaching for New Heights, will include exhibits and demonstrations of agency technology. Former astronaut and Associate Administrator for Education Leland Melvin will deliver a presentation about NASA education programs, and astronauts Pat Forrester and Kjell Lindgren will be available to sign autographs. Forrester is a veteran of three space shuttle flights to the International Space Station. Lindgren was selected in June 2009 as one of nine U.S. candidates of the 20th NASA astronaut class and recently graduated from astronaut candidate training.
NASA Day on the Hill also will feature demonstrations of technologies from the International Space Station, advances in aviation design, developments in astrobiology as well as new projects to improve education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
