Report Identifies Political Bias in Iowa Core Curriculum

Preserve Innocence Study Shows Iowa Curriculum Open to Bias, Indoctrination

WASHINGTON, April 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- "Throughout the Iowa Core Curriculum, we have found vague directives that invite political indoctrination, relativist approaches to history and social science, and incomplete and inaccurate lessons on American government.  The result is a curriculum that undermines the right of parents to direct their children's moral education," stated Emmett McGroarty, Director of Preserve Innocence, an organization dedicated to defending the innocence of children and the sovereignty of the family.  

Mr. McGroarty referred to the findings in the most recent Innocence Report, a publication of Preserve Innocence that provides in-depth analyses of policies that negatively affect children and interfere with parental rights.  The April  Innocence Report examines the Iowa Core Curriculum, identifying multiple opportunities for bias and indoctrination—especially in the sections on Science, Political Science/Civic Literacy, Behavioral Sciences, History, Economics, and Health Literacy.  The problems in the Curriculum range from science activities that urge students to take political action to civics lessons that incorrectly describe the American system of governance.  The full report can be found at www.preserveinnocence.org.
