PITTSBURGH, April 10, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In 2012, PennFuture issued a report identifying fossil fuel subsidies in Pennsylvania to the tune of $2.9 billion, at the time roughly 10 percent of the state budget. The statewide environmental organization has updated that report and the current dollar amount of subsidies to the highly-profitable, mature fossil fuel industry continues to balloon. All this at a time when the state faces a $1.5 billion budget shortfall and investment in emerging renewable energy industries such as solar and wind are at fractional levels. Federal leadership on carbon polluters has been no better in the first 100 days of the McConnell Senate.
