REPORT: The Nation's Top "Tough Love Professors" List

AUSTIN, Texas, March 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MyEdu collected 1 billion data points on professor grading trends and cross-compared it to student sentiment based on 800,000 student ratings at the largest 777 colleges and universities across the U.S. to compile the report listing some of the nation's top "Tough Love Professors" - professors that are notoriously difficult but highly respected by students.

To qualify, the professor must historically give below a C average and have high student sentiment (ratings above a 4 on a 5 point Likert scale). To obtain this list, MyEdu analyzed over 2.3 million professors teaching 2.4 million courses associated with 10 million grade histories (obtained directly from institutions) 362,000 student reviews and 440,000 student ratings.

MyEdu wanted to honor 10 of the college professors among thousands that take the time each day to teach and prepare students for success beyond the classroom.  These professors have a strong belief that success does not only come in the form of an "A" on the final exam but rather from a greater lesson taught in the classroom.
