Rep. Fattah Thanks the President for Launching Middle East Peace Talks 'in a Season of Hope'
WASHINGTON, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA) releases the following statement on the restart of Mideast peace talks:
"These are sacred times for Jews and Muslims around the world. The Jewish High Holidays and the Islamic Holy Month of Ramadan are appropriate times for reflection upon the hard task of making peace in the Middle East.
"President Obama understands that working for and preserving peace is an ongoing process. He has our gratitude for continuing efforts in the Middle East – from the early appointment of the Special Envoy Senator George Mitchell to last week's White House launch of direct negotiations between Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Palestinian President Abbas.
"This is important work, undertaken by our President, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and these historic Middle Eastern rivals with seriousness, clear-eyed pragmatism – and hope in a season of hope."
