Rep. Fattah Says Senate Vote Shows Democrats Are the True Friends of Small Business and Job Creation
WASHINGTON, Sept. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), Chairman of the Congressional Urban Caucus and Pennsylvania's senior member on the House Appropriations Committee, issues the following statement upon Senate passage of the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act of 2010 (H.R. 5297):
"The Senate has taken a significant step for our nation's economic recovery today by approving tax breaks and expanded credit for small businesses that are the backbone of Main Street America. I was pleased to advocate and vote for this job-creating legislation in the House, and will again be leading the fight as the House moves to approve the Senate's version and send the Act to President Obama. This progress is long overdue, obstructed by many of the very same Republicans who claim to support tax relief for small businesses and the middle class. Today, Senate Democrats, buttressed by the leadership of Senators Casey and Specter, have shown who are the true friends of small business, job-creation and Main Street America."
