Rep. Fattah Cites Fed Report, GM Jobs to Show the Obama Recovery is Working
PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA) issues the following statement in response to continued signs of improvement in the U.S. economy:
"On Day One of Year Two for President Obama's increasingly successful Recovery and Reinvestment program, those of us who are rooting for America can celebrate two more hopeful signs that our nation's economy is swinging upward, and note two more indicators that the naysayers are wearing blinders.
"In Philadelphia, the Federal Reserve Bank issued a report today that manufacturing continues to improve in the region, saying new orders, shipments, and employment 'all remained positive this month' and better than January. Meanwhile General Motors, which is still in business thanks to Obama Administration initiatives, announced it will invest $494 million in a new green-technology engine – and hire 550 workers to build it.
“It’s been said Rome wasn’t built in a day. But the Obama Administration continues to take smart steps to pull our nation out of the economic mess that the President inherited from the previous administration.”
