NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y., Jan. 3, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- A prominent reproductive endocrinologist who has treated more than 30,000 infertility patients over the past 28 ½ years has been appointed to lead Northwell Health's fertility services. Nicole Noyes, MD, a fertility preservation and in vitro fertilization specialist, assumed her new role on January 1 as Northwell Health's system chief for reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
She joins Northwell from NYU Langone Health, where she co-founded the NYU Langone Fertility Center. She had been Co-Director of Fertility Preservation at NYU since 2004.
"Northwell Health has a long history of helping women with fertility issues, establishing New York State's first in-vitro fertilization (IVF) program in 1983 at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset," said Michael Nimaroff, MD, senior vice president and executive director of obstetrics and gynecology at Northwell Health. "Recruiting Dr. Noyes to lead reproductive endocrinology throughout the health system will enable Northwell to further enhance our fertility services across the metropolitan area, especially in Manhattan where she has a large patient following and practice. Under Dr. Noyes' leadership, there will be a major focus on expanding our fertility preservation services through egg freezing and embryo banking."
Dr. Noyes has close to three decades of infertility and 15 years of fertility preservation experience. As a gynecologic surgeon, she also treats patients for congenital uterine abnormalities and other conditions that may be causing infertility or pregnancy-related complications.
Since the mid-2000s, she has been consistently ranked among New York Magazine's "Top Doctors," by Castle Connolly as well as one of America's "Top Doctors for Cancer" for her role in fertility preservation. She also received the Family Building Award from the American Fertility Association in 2007.
At NYU, Dr. Noyes played an integral role in establishing the Oocyte Cryopreservation and Fertility Preservation Program and is now considered a world expert in the field, having given more than 50 lectures worldwide on the topic. During her tenure, the NYU Fertility Center was ranked third in the nation by Child Magazine with some of the highest and most consistent pregnancy rates in the world.
"I have spent over 28 years helping to develop and grow two of the most prestigious fertility centers in New York City. Joining Northwell will provide the perfect opportunity to put my acquired experience to use within a major healthcare system that is aligned with my values for best patient practices and excellence in medicine," said Dr. Noyes.
Widely published, Dr. Noyes has received numerous awards for her research, including a $1 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to study "A Systems Biology Approach to Mammalian Embryogenesis." She is board certified in both obstetrics and gynecology as well as in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI). She earned her bachelor's and medical degrees from the University of Vermont and completed her OB/GYN residency and REI fellowship at the Weill Cornell School of Medicine.
Dr. Noyes, who also holds consulting privileges at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, started her career in 1992 at Weill Cornell School of Medicine before moving to NYU in 1995 to help establish, with her former partners, NYU's current fertility practice.
