Renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon Joins NYU Langone To Lead Research Efforts

Einhorn, MD, an internationally renowned expert in adult hip and knee reconstruction surgery whose own research has included the study of novel biologic techniques to treat joint ailments, has been appointed as the new Director of Clinical and Translational Research Development for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center.

In this role, Dr. Einhorn will oversee the translational and clinical research efforts of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, which conducts research that contributes to the understanding, treatment, cure and prevention of musculoskeletal diseases.
Dr. Einhorn, who was also appointed professor of orthopaedic surgery at NYU School of Medicine, also will see patients at NYU Langone's Center for Musculoskeletal Care located on East 38th Street in Midtown Manhattan.
An award-winning researcher, Dr. Einhorn is currently the Principal Investigator of a multi-center research project sponsored and supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) entitled, "Hip Fracture Evaluation Alternatives of Total Hip vs. Hemi-arthroplasty (HEALTH)."

Dr. Einhorn's research has appeared in more than 230 peer reviewed journal articles, featured in publications such Clinical Orthopaedics, Journal of Orthopaedic Research, Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research. He has also authored six textbooks, more than 70 book chapters and dozens of monographs.
Most recently, Dr. Einhorn served as Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Boston Medical Center -- a position he held since 1997 -- and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Biochemistry, and Biomedical Engineering at the Boston University School of Medicine.
An alumnus of Rutgers University, Dr. Einhorn earned his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College. He completed his residency at St. Luke's - Roosevelt Hospital Center and Columbia University in New York City, and his post-doctoral fellowship at The Hospital for Special Surgery.
