BETHESDA, Md., June 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Renaissance Hotels, the global lifestyle brand known for helping travelers to experience business unusual on the road, will host its fifth annual Global Day of Discovery on June 16 at nearly 170 hotels around the world. During Global Day of Discovery, guests and locals alike will be treated to an unforgettable evening, via exclusive unexpected hotel events and neighborhood experiences centered on mixology, gastronomy, nightlife and entertainment.
Global Day of Discovery kicks off at each Renaissance Hotel with a signature bar ritual centered on indigenous craft beverages, curated by the hotel bartender and local beverage experts. The bar ritual is the signal that the 9-to-5 working day is over and it is time to transition into an incredible evening of discovery and celebrate the #5to9.

Across-the-brand event highlights taking place around the world on June 16 include:
- The new Renaissance Montreal Downtown Hotel (opened January 2016), in partnership with Toronto Men's Fashion Week TOM*, will showcase pieces from Quebec's top men's fashion designers in the hotel's lobby. Designers will be stationed throughout the lobby, along with models showcasing each piece. A cocktail party will follow, on the hotel's rooftop terrace.
- The new Renaissance Paris Republique Hotel (opened April 2016), the brand's newest property in Europe, will host a star-studded event with live art exhibitions. Kouka, the Franco-African contemporary artist known for his 'Guerriers Bantus' series, who decorated the lobby windows with Bantu Warriors will perform live aerial art while local French street artist, J3 whose street art installations grace the hotel's communal spaces, will create bespoke art during the event. The stunning Leigh Lezark and her New York creative collective The Misshapes live DJ set will keep everyone dancing—highlighted by French singer Mahaut Mondino's original music performance.
- Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel will celebrate the city's eclectic art scene by presenting works by local graffiti artists, photographers, as well as artists who create wearable art-- featuring Nick Ulivieri, DJ White Shadow, Tiny Fireflies, Emmy Star Brown, Allison Svoboda, and Alan Zhang in Staytion (the lobby bar), Raised (the rooftop bar), the Looking Glass Ballroom. The recently renovated property's Urban Blue space is also partnering with Perrier® Sparkling Natural Mineral Water transforming the space into a unique "bubble lounge." The bubble lounge will include cocktails featuring Perrier products as well as stations for individuals to tap into their creative side by coloring in custom adult coloring books. Renaissance Long Beach Hotel will also host a Perrier Bubble Bar featuring custom drinks in addition to a variety of local breweries from around California all paired with tasty indigenous bites for guests and locals to enjoy.
- Renaissance Cairo Mirage City Hotel will invite guests to discover Egypt's magnificent Ramadan spirit while relaxing by the Nile in one of the top Yachts in Cairo. Guests can revel in a traditional Sohour buffet while observing Cairo's beauty when the city lights come to life. An authentic Tanoura show, the folkloric Arabic Takht, a variety of shisha flavors and a punch Bowl of local non-alcoholic craft cocktails will also be offered.
- Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel will replicate Bangkok's famous Amphawa Floating Market in the lobby, transforming the space into an interactive hub of activity. Culinary enthusiasts can indulge in Thai delicacies, including Pad Thai and Som-Tum (Papaya Salad), and Bangkok-inspired refreshments such as the Mekong Punch and Kwan Riem cocktails. While local artists sketch caricatures and demonstrate the traditional skills of glass blowing and fruit carving, Bangkok DJs Burin and Gift OKB will create a party vibe.
- Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa will take guests on a tour of Phuket's Chalong Bay Rum distillery. The distillery partners with local farmers and uses sustainable techniques to produce handcrafted rum that is exported around the world. Guests will enjoy fresh seafood, a barbecue, Chalong Bay cocktails and music from a local band.
