Time: 2 p.m.
Place: Air Force Memorial (One Air Force Memorial Drive, Arlington, VA 22204)
ABOUT THIS EVENT
The Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) of World War II are honoring 38 pilots who died in the line of duty at a special Remembrance Ceremony at the Air Force Memorial. The event will include a Wreath-laying and Rose Ceremony "...for the 38" with a Reading of the Names and remarks by military aviator Vice Admiral Vivien S. Crea, USCG, (Ret.)
The event coincides with Congressional ceremonies honoring surviving pilots or the families of those who served with the Congressional Gold Medal for more than 1,100 pilots. These were the first women to fly American military aircraft, and their historic service led to the military's integration of women pilots.
The Congressional Gold Medal is among the nation's highest possible patriotic honors.
