Relationship with Citrix Positions SWC Technology Partners as a Midwest Leader in Virtualization Solutions
OAK BROOK, Ill., Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- By forging a new partnership with Citrix Systems, Inc., SWC Technology Partners has rounded out its capabilities in delivering end-to-end virtualization solutions to customers.
SWC has designed and deployed server virtualization solutions to the midmarket for years. Now, as desktop virtualization generates increased interest and acceptance in the market, SWC has entered into a formal partnership with Citrix to reinforce its presence in the marketplace.
Citrix is a longtime leader in desktop and application virtualization technology, and its products complement Microsoft's virtualization stack. Microsoft and Citrix have partnered for decades on various initiatives, and Microsoft leverages Citrix's XenDesktop and XenApp to augment its desktop virtualization offering. At the same time, SWC has been a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner and Hewlett-Packard Elite Partner for many years.
"SWC's partnerships with Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, VMWare and now Citrix mean we are uniquely positioned to deliver end-to-end virtualization solutions to our customers," said Adam Ferguson, SWC vice president, infrastructure solutions. "With this holistic view of virtualization, we are prepared to deploy desktop-as-a-service solutions utilizing hardware from Hewlett-Packard, infrastructure from Microsoft and virtualization technology from Citrix."
Desktop-as-a-service centralizes applications and operating systems in the data center and delivers them via the organization's private cloud. SWC's customers are looking for more control over end users' desktop environments; better backups and protection of data; and more predictable costs per user. Some customers are looking to avoid refreshing and replacing hardware components every three to five years, along with the service and upgrades they require.
At the same time, many businesses are considering upgrading to the Windows 7 operating system. These companies may use applications that aren't compatible with Windows 7, and a virtualized desktop mitigates many of these issues.
"Citrix has a robust, proven desktop virtualization product," Ferguson said. "It's great at managing, provisioning and controlling the desktop and centralizing applications. SWC is proud to be aligned with Citrix and Microsoft. Now our customers can benefit from the advantages these partnerships bring."
