Regus Points to Hampton, Va. as a Growth Market with the Opening of New Center
New Peninsula Town Center Seamlessly Blends Work, Live and Play Options
HAMPTON, Va., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Responding to positive indicators supporting the economic vitality of Hampton, Va., Regus, the world's leading provider of innovative workplace solutions, has extended its investment in Virginia with the opening of a new, full service business center in Peninsula Town Center – a new mixed-use development in the Coliseum Central district.
Peninsula Town Center, which opened in March of this year, is located near the southern end of the Virginia Peninsula along the Chesapeake Bay. Known as the "Hampton Roads" region, it is the largest metropolitan area between Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, with 1.7 million residents. Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Newport News, Hampton, Portsmouth and Suffolk are the seven cities that make up Hampton Roads.
Christina Chmura, a Richmond, Va.-based economist who compiled a report, "Hampton Roads State of the Workforce: 2010," found the region's economic foundation remains strong and it boasts several advantages, including its large military population. Most notably, Langley Air Force Base and Norfolk Navy Bases are less than 10 miles away from Hampton. For more than twenty years, Hampton Roads has been the mid-Atlantic leader in waterborne foreign commerce.
With the opening of the new Peninsula Town Center Regus now operates 17 centers in Virginia and its latest addition is expected to draw business from established and emerging companies. The center offers flexible terms on fully furnished private offices, meeting rooms and virtual offices. With its Businessworld Membership program, business travelers have affordable access to Regus' global network of more than 400 locations in the U.S. and 1,100 worldwide.
"Hampton Roads is a major force in the Virginia economy," said Donna Scott, Regus' East Region Vice President. "Enquiries are coming in from businesses who want to have a presence in Hampton's prestigious Peninsula Town Center. By signing an agreement with us they can dictate their lease terms and minimize the upfront capital required to set up an office," she added.
NeighborhoodScout.com surveyed more than 350 U.S. metro areas to identify the top 10 large areas with the best job growth and lower rates of unemployment. Using data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, three cities within Hampton Roads were considered markets that presented opportunities.
"The state and regional jobless rate are lower than the national employment figures," said Scott. "Our clients recognize the business potential of the market and we are accommodating their demands by establishing a presence in one of the most desirable addresses in the region."
