Registration For 2015 California Economic Summit Opens

ONTARIO, Calif., Sept. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Registration is now open for the 2015 California Economic Summit to be held in Ontario on November 12-13, marking the first time the state convening will take place in the Inland Empire.
The Summit will focus on how the state can address its infrastructure, housing, water and workforce needs in order to ensure that 1 million middle-skill jobs can be filled, 1 million new housing units are built, and 1 million acre feet of water is saved. More than 700 regional civic and business leaders continue to work on seven Action Teams advancing these goals, as outlined by the Summit's 5 year-plan, A Roadmap to Shared Prosperity.
"Many California communities – urban and rural, coastal and inland – face persistent gaps in employment, education and opportunity, even as the economy has recovered," said Paul Granillo, the co-chair of the Summit Steering Committee who is president and CEO of the Inland Empire Economic Partnership, a coalition of business and local governments committed to developing the region's economy. "California cannot thrive until state and civic leaders sharpen strategies for targeting resources where they are needed most to build the skills and the infrastructure Californians and their communities need to prosper."
Since its inception in 2012, the California Economic Summit has brought together hundreds of private, public and civic leaders from the state's diverse regions in an effort to advance the triple bottom line: promoting a prosperous economy, that respects environment and equity concerns.
"The Inland Empire is home to 4.3 million residents who represent an important part of the state's economic backbone. We are thrilled to be hosting this year's Summit, as it emphasizes the significance of our region in the statewide economy," commented Granillo.
An impressive line-up of state government officials have confirmed their attendance, including Secretary of State Alex Padilla, Treasurer John Chiang, and Controller Betty Yee.
The 2015 California Economic Summit is a collaboration of California Forward and the California Stewardship Network, co-hosted by the Inland Empire Economic Partnership. Registration, program and logistics information are available at: https://cafwd-secure.org/caeconomy/summit2015
