ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- American Trucking Associations' Technology & Maintenance Council will provide a full slate of timely technical sessions along with the 11th annual National Technician Skills Competition during its 2015 Fall Meeting, to be held September 21-24 at the Walt Disney Swan & Dolphin Resort, Orlando, Fla.

"These technical sessions are conducted by trusted industry professionals that are expert equipment and service providers or experienced equipment managers themselves," said Carl Kirk, ATA vice president of maintenance, information technology & logistics.

Technical sessions will cover a range of critical topics including troubleshooting aftertreatment systems, electronic driver vehicle inspections and cybersecurity, as well as recruiting and mentorship to fuel system management and electronic issues.

More than 100 task forces will meet on the opening day to continue work on recommended practices, information reports and position papers. TMC's annual Fleet Talk will provide the opportunity for maintenance and equipment professionals to exchange information related to equipment problems. During the Town Meeting, TMC's Fleet Operator's Forum will provide the opportunity for maintenance and equipment professionals to seek redress for unresolved equipment issues they have with manufacturers.

Kenneth Vieth, president and senior analyst for ACT Research Co., and the company's principal heavy-truck and trailer market analyst will be the Industry Luncheon speaker. Vieth has become an important advisor to commercial vehicle OEMs and suppliers, the investment community, trucking companies, and other businesses affiliated with the industry. In 2012, Vieth was named as the consulting economist to the National Private Truck Council and in 2013 was the top forecaster in the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank's consensus forecast.

Top technicians from across the country will compete in the National Technician Skills Competition – TMCSuperTech 2015 – held in conjunction with TMC's Fall Meeting.  A qualifying round of exams will be held on Monday with a reception and announcement of qualifying competitors for Tuesday's hands-on skills challenge. TMC is also expanding its National Student Technician Competition – TMCFutureTech 2015 – sponsored by Velociti with a set of skill stations for technician students to be held on Tuesday. Winners of both competitions will be announced at Wednesday's TMCSuperTech 2015 Awards Luncheon – open to both contestants and meeting attendees. Deadline for TMCSuperTech 2015 registration is Aug. 21. Deadline for TMCFutureTech 2015 has been extended to Aug. 28.
