Region's Premier IT Company Hurricane Labs Announces Exclusive Hack Challenge
CLEVELAND, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Cleveland's leading network security and management company, Hurricane Labs announces their 5th Hurricane Labs Hack Challenge. This challenging event will commence on September 22, 2010 at 6p ET at their corporate office in Independence, Ohio. The Hurricane Labs Hack Challenge invites multiple levels of programmers to simultaneously access a network in a techie version of "Capture the Flag" and attempt to find checkpoints within the network. Hurricane Labs wants to test the hacker's abilities on speed and efficiency in the breakdown of a mock network.
Hurricane Lab's engineers create an impressive and realistic hacking experience by developing a network designed to highlight mistakes companies make when it comes to security. Competitors are encouraged to bring their own hardware and software. A limited number of Windows laptops will be available.
"Each Hurricane Labs Hack Challenge is an opportunity to revel in the intelligence and expertise of hackers and learn new techniques and trends in our industry," said Bill Mathews, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Hurricane Labs.
The goal of the Hack Challenge is to simulate real life examples and vulnerabilities that live in the workplace and put it in a mock environment setting for an evening. Actual exploits uncovered during penetration tests (pen tests) are included in the competition and highlight the potential dangers of security issues that exist in organizations open source networks.
