FREDERICK, Md., Oct. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Regent Education today announced enhancements to Regent Access that extend its ability to support undocumented students attending institutions in states that provide financial aid for applicants covered by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) federal policy and other undocumented students. Institutions in California, Minnesota, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington and Texas are among those supporting these students financially.
Regent's Access solution automates and streamlines the state financial aid application process for undocumented students by providing an experience similar to that of United States citizens and eligible non- citizens with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). By offering this robust online application, states and individual institutions can minimize the amount of time and resources required to process state financial aid applications for undocumented students, and these students will find themselves one step closer to attaining a higher education degree.
Enhancements announced today include:
- Updates to support the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) calculation for 2019-2020 to mirror that calculated for FAFSA applicants;
- Date related updates to support the application for the new 2019-2020 year;
- Inclusion of the calculated EFC on the downloadable PDF of the questionnaire for student reference.
"Regent is proud to announce its Access automated state-based financial aid application tool for undocumented students for the new 2019-2020 aid year. The new version of Regent Access contains all updates required by federal regulation for the FAFSA application tool it mirrors, and greatly assists institutions and states as they serve this significant population," said Ron Dinwiddie, Vice President of Product Management.
"Regent's ability to provide timely regulatory updates to our eTASFA solution is critical in supporting the ongoing application needs of our undocumented students," said Lacey Thompson, Director of Operations, Student Financial Aid and Scholarships at the University of North Texas. "It ensures we continue to deliver a user-friendly, online experience that mirrors the FAFSA."
