WASHINGTON, Feb. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Reexamination Center, managed by Washington, DC intellectual property law firm Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox P.L.L.C., announces additions to its Executive Interview Series. Featured are Chief Judge Paul R. Michel, former Solicitor of Patents and Trademarks at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Nancy J. Linck, Ph.D., and Syracuse University College of Law Professor Lisa Dolak.
Chief Judge Michel was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in 1998 and assumed the role of Chief Judge in 2004. Throughout his tenure, he wrote more than 800 opinions and judged several thousand appeals across a spectrum of legal areas. Chief Judge Michel resigned from his position in May 2010, but continues to speak out on patent-related court issues. In the interview, Chief Judge Michel discusses issues related to patent reexamination and patent reform legislation.
Dr. Linck, a partner at Rothwell, Figg, Ernst & Manbeck, P.C. and former Solicitor of Patents and Trademarks at the USPTO, has been an active voice in inter partes reexamination legislation reform. Dr. Linck served as a drafter of the inter partes reexamination legislation enacted in November 1999 and later helped bring about necessary improvements to the reexamination process, including a third party right to appeal to the Federal Circuit. Dr. Linck discusses post-grant challenge options at the PTO and new options introduced within the America Invents Act.
Professor Dolak worked in the pharmaceutical industry before attending law school and focusing her practice on patent prosecution, patent litigation, and trademark and copyright litigation and registration. Since 1995, she has been a professor at Syracuse University College of Law. Professor Dolak discusses the issues of inequitable conduct and supplemental examination in light of the America Invents Act.
