Beginning April 12, Americans can participate by visiting www.ArborDay.org/RedwoodCreek to select on which worthy national forest the winery should plant 10,000 trees. From the delicate and complex weather-sheltered ecosystem of forests to the delicious fruits and nuts we eat and enjoy every day, the selected forests are geographically representative of the critical role trees play in every region of the country. The initiative will run through April 27th, National Arbor Day.
The remaining 25,000 trees will be distributed to current members of the Arbor Day Foundation to improve their local communities. Once planted, these trees will grow to beautify neighborhoods and help to keep the air clean. If strategically planted, they can even aid in conserving energy in homes throughout the year.
"Thanks to this exciting new partnership with Redwood Creek, we will be able to plant much-needed trees in our nation's forests and in communities throughout the country," said Ben Nelson, Director of Corporate Partnerships with the Arbor Day Foundation. "By planting trees and encouraging its fans to participate, Redwood Creek is demonstrating its strong commitment to stewardship and service."
The partnership was inspired by the wine's name and the passion of winemaker and avid outdoor enthusiast, Cal Dennison. Dennison is the craftsman behind the wine that supports this initiative.
"Together, through this partnership and with the people who join us online to voice where the trees should be planted, we are having a positive effect on our local communities and the beautiful forests surrounding us," said Cal Dennison, Redwood Creek Winemaker. "I'll be uncorking a bottle of our Rich Red Blend to celebrate the partnership."
The winery's Rich Red Blend is a food-friendly wine with hints of spice, ripe blackberry and dark chocolate. It is the perfect complement to a spring picnic held under the shade of a favorite tree.
