Redpine Signals Wins Award for Best Application of Energy Harvesting

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Redpine Signals, Inc., a leading developer of ultra-low-power and high-performance multi-standard wireless chipsets and systems, today announced it is this year's recipient of the 5^th IDTechEx Energy Harvesting & Storage and Internet of Things & Wireless Sensor Networks award for Best Application of Energy Harvesting. Redpine Signals was honored for its innovative WiSeMote-EH device, which leverages the significant innovation in Redpine's Wi-Fi chipset and module products, as well as Redpine's system level products for the Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) market.

The WiSeMote-EH device contains Redpine's ultra-low-power RS9113 M2MCombo Wi-Fi chipset, an energy storage element, and sensors in an industrial grade plastic body, with solar cells and an e-paper display panel on the exterior. The device finds applications in supermarkets – for displaying product information updates, conferences – for displaying attendee information and promotions, etc.

The IDTechEx Energy Harvesting & Storage and Internet of Things & Wireless Sensor Networks awards recognize company development and success in all energy harvesting technologies and applications, including the pertinent wireless sensor networks (WSN) fields.
