NEW YORK, Nov. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Rednote, the music messaging platform, today announced the addition of Bill Campbell, former Senior Vice President of Universal Music Group and Sony Music Group, Michael Shalett, Co-Founder and COO of SoundScan, and Val Katayev, former Founder and CEO of ToneMedia (now Bandsintown Amplified), to the Rednote Advisory Board.
Campbell brings over 25 years of global experience in the digital media industry, including digital music, streaming video, media, virtual reality, film and TV. As Senior Vice President, Global Digital Business at Sony Music Group (2008-2010), he was instrumental in leading global content licensing, channel development and strategic partnerships for the distribution of the labels' audio, video and mobile products. After his tenure at Sony, Campbell pursued a global executive role at Universal Music Group as the company's Senior Vice President of Digital Business (2010-2014). Most recently, Campbell founded Barefoot Media LLC (2014-present), a consulting firm dedicated to providing funding, digital strategy, business and financial modeling and negotiations to start-ups.
Shalett also joins Rednote's advisory board and touts over 30 years of experience in the music industry. Shalett co-founded and served as Chief Operating Officer of SoundScan, one of the first online management information systems that, in 1991, used its revolutionary technology to collect and compile point-of-sale data from music retailers and presented the information to record labels, music distribution companies, concert promoters, artists' managers and other key entities in the music business. Soon after, the system was quickly adopted by Billboard Magazine to exclusively compile the trade publication's charts.
Katayev, a serial entrepreneur, brings his sharp business acumen in digital media display, mobile, music, search and data to Rednote's advisory board. During Katayev's tenure at ToneMedia, Katayev grew the platform to become one of Comscore's Top 3 Music Properties and developed ToneTargeting, a patent pending technology that evaluates consumer demographics, buying habits and hobbies based on musical tastes. Katayev also founded Poise Media, ToneFuse and currently MobileFuse, a two-time Crain's Fast 50 company focused on mobile advertising solutions for 200+ Fortune 1000 companies.
"I am personally thrilled to partner with such innovative thought leaders as Bill, Michael and Val," said Rednote CEO Andy Blacker. "They have achieved major milestones in the world of music and technology, and will help Rednote deliver on its vision of providing the music industry and artists with a new platform to intimately engage with fans."
Rednote will be entering the market in early 2017. For more information, visit rednote.com.
