Redfin Ranks the Best U.S. Cities and Neighborhoods for Moms
Tech-powered Real Estate Broker Looked at Homes for Sale Based on Proximity to Parks, Libraries and Shopping, Not to Mention Hot Tubs, of Course
SEATTLE, May 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Redfin, the technology-powered real estate broker (www.redfin.com) today announced its ranking of the top 10 U.S. cities and top 15 neighborhoods for mothers. To determine the ranking, Redfin analyzed 300,000 homes for sale based on proximity to parks, libraries and shopping, as well as a prevalence of hot tubs.
The most mom-friendly city is Los Angeles, CA, where 12.5 percent of homes for sale were near a park, 4.7 percent were close to libraries, 13.5 percent were convenient to shopping areas and 5.2 percent of homes had a hot tub.

At a neighborhood level, the most mom friendly community is Playa Vista, where 60 percent of homes for sale were near a park, 30 percent were close to libraries, 15 percent were convenient to shopping areas and 15 percent of homes had hot tubs. Additionally, six of the top 15 neighborhoods in the country are located in the Los Angeles area.
