RedEye Introduces Tablet Application
Swipe, scroll, look, and listen with this immersive approach to news and entertainment
CHICAGO, March 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- RedEye, Chicago's dynamic multi-platform media brand known for its to-the-point take on news, has released an application for tablet users. RedEye is the first local daily newspaper to design a vivid and interactive experience tailored exclusively for the iPad environment, through a subscription model, without merely repurposing print content or feeds from the web.
This tablet application introduces exciting original content, streaming audio and video, games, seamless social media integration, and a browsing experience more akin to a magazine than a newspaper. In addition, the app will provide interactive and innovative advertising opportunities to better bring campaigns to life.
Last spring, RedEye released a utility and commuter-based iPhone and Android app designed to help city dwellers navigate their commute. As RedEye approaches the ten-year anniversary of bringing its unique perspective to Chicagoans daily, the brand continues to evolve across a variety of platforms, with each channel serving a specific consumer purpose.
"It is our job to ensure that each new manifestation of the RedEye brand re-energizes our audience and is tailored to the usage of the individual device," says Kurt Mueller, General Manager of RedEye/Metromix. "We're providing much more than another newsreader. Our tablet edition is perfect for readers in a lean-back environment, offering them a rich and immersive experience."
The tablet app is now available in the iTunes Store and will be free to consumers for the first month when downloaded by April 15th. Thereafter, the application can be renewed on a subscription basis for $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year.
