Red Bull Racing Wins F1 Drivers' Championship, Powered by Platform Computing
LONDON, Nov. 22, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Platform Computing, the leader in cluster, grid and cloud management software, today congratulates Innovation Partner Red Bull Racing on its Formula One Drivers' Championship win, following Sebastian Vettel's victory for the Red Bull Racing team at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. This follows Red Bull Racing winning the 2010 Constructors' Championship earlier in November.
Platform and Red Bull Racing have been in partnership since 2006, when Platform was originally tasked with optimizing the throughput of workload on their High Performance Computing (HPC) environment to design the world's fastest Formula One cars. Platform's HPC software enables Red Bull Racing to significantly accelerate its computer-aided design and engineering processes.
Red Bull Racing is using Platform LSF, the industry-leading workload management solution for HPC environments, to ensure that compute resources are operating to their fullest potential. Platform LSF helps Red Bull Racing optimize designs that maximize the downforce and reduce the drag Red Bull Racing cars create on the track. Platform's partnership with Red Bull Racing enables the team to make adjustments to their winning cars quickly and efficiently, helping the company stay ahead of the competition.
Red Bull Racing's Team Principal, Christian Horner, said "Platform Computing has been an integral part of our design process since 2006, and has definitely played a significant part in our rise to the top of Formula One. In our sport literally one hundredth of a second can stand between winning or losing and working with Platform has resulted in a 20% improvement in the throughput of our engineering analysis, which has boosted the performance of our cars, helping us become F1 Constructors' and Drivers' championship winners in 2010."
Christoph Reichert, Vice President EMEA, Platform Computing, said "This incredible double victory demonstrates the strategic role that High Performance Computing can play when the stakes are high and performance is everything. This is also fantastic news for all of our customers, as the knowledge and best practices developed with Red Bull Racing for one of the fastest, most expensive and technically advanced sports in the world will help us to offer even better products. We look forward to helping Red Bull Racing design even faster and more efficient cars in 2011 and beyond."
